<< A zen garden in Kodai-ji

Kodai-ji is a temple of the Rinzai sect Kennin-ji group in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto-shi, and an official name is called Kodai-Jyusyo Zen temple.

Since what was a temple of Soto sect invited founding from the Rinzai sect group's Kennin-ji behind at the beginning, while converting to Rinzai sect, it became a name of Kodai-ji. Kodai-ji is famous also as a temple of Hideyoshi Toyotomi and its wife Nene, and there is an image of Nene in the soul store where one step of Kodai-ji compound became high with Hideyoshi.

In 1606, Hideyoshi Toyotomi's legal wife Nene will build a temple here, in order that Hideyoshi who died in 1598 may pray to Buddha for the happiness of the dead. Moreover, it is said that Ieyasu Tokugawa who defeated the original battle treats Kitanomanndokoro (Nene) politely from the strategy in which the Toyotomi family is not stimulated, and Seki in 1600 was seeing off remarkable funds and talented people also in the Kodai-ji erection those days. Nene is passing its later years in this Kodai-ji.

Since Nene which adores Hideyoshi in whom the Mizuki stand on the roofed passage in a garden passed away said that here to the moon was watching, it was named. The highlight of Kodai-ji is at the time of autumnal leaves too.

Although the time of autumnal leaves greets a peak at the the end of November, autumnal leaves gay in a garden attach coloring, and are very beautiful. Moreover, another of the highlight of Kodai-ji is the beauty of The wood of a bamboo of a garden back hand. If it passes over Garyu-Pond and goes to the garden back, there is tearoom Sigure-Tei and brilliant The wood of a bamboo is on worship way both sides at the place which went down from there.

Although it goes to a Hojyo from here, in the interior of a room, the Hojyo serves as a ban on photography. The front yard is called the Hojyo front garden from the Hojyo, and it is famous for lighting anyhow.

So modernistic that ? is thought why to a historied temple? The illuminations using an optical fiber develop. Although the production which can be regarded also as this glimpse mismatch is also conversely fresh, he will have a wonderful feeling, if Hojyo is visited in the daytime, and what on earth has decorated. Lighting of Kodai-ji is introduced on another page.
